Busts in Hungary, hundreds of servers confiscated
|
On the 8th of november 2007, a 32 terabyte site located in Hungary went down. Its owner was arrested by the Hungarian police. One of the proxy`s was busted too. This news was quite typical, since in terms of piracy, Hungary is a very safe country.
Later that day it was announced that over 100 Hungarian servers were confiscated by the Hungarian police. The servers were hosted by various internet providers, such as GTS-Datanet, Deninet, CFM, and Giganet. Among those servers were 2 sites, and also some bittorrent trackers and warez fora. Names of the non-scene targeted `organisations` were made public, this were bitHuman, Bitlove (torrent trackers), nCore (release site), and the warez fora Independent, Moobs, Revolution. This is not good for the scene since there were connections between the fxp boards and the scene. The Hungarian police and special anti-piracy organizations were responsible for the raids.
The capture of the servers caused a funny effect in the Hungarian bandwidth. After the raids, the overal country traffic went from 60 GBit/s to 35-40 Gbits.
